Mixing XXVI – change of venue

Condado Vanderbilt Hotel
Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Dear NAMF Friends and Colleagues,

The preparations for NAMF’s 2018, MIXING XXVI, are in now full swing and we would like to provide you with an update of our activities and some recent developments. Our conference venue has been changed and MIXING XXVI will now take place at the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, as scheduled, i.e., from Sunday, June 24, 2018 to Friday, June 29, 2018.

Just to provide you with some additional details, our previous selected conference venue, the El Conquistador resort, informed us last month that they would not be fully ready in June to host our Conference following Hurricane Maria. Therefore, we re-opened the search for a suitable location for MIXING XXVI, and two of us, Luis and Piero, even went back to Puerto Rico to look at a number of possible options. After inspecting several hotels and resorts, we selected, and already secured, the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, a beautiful, beach-front hotel within the larger San Juan area and in closer proximity to the International Airport.

We are very pleased with the Condado Vanderbilt as our new conference site, the many amenities that it offers, and its vicinity to historic old San Juan. We urge you to visit the hotel website to fully appreciate its many features, such as conference rooms, pools, beaches, restaurants, lounges, fitness rooms, spa’s and others (Condado Vanderbilt Hotel). The hotel is in top shape, and we took many pictures and videos during our recent visit that we would like to share with you: please find some of them (we took too many to post them all) at the following links (1) (2).

We were also very positively impressed with the speed at which the entire San Juan area has recovered following not one but two consecutive massive hurricanes. Actually, the San Juan area was not in the main path of the hurricanes, unlike some of the Southern and Western regions of the island, which were invested in full-force and suffered significantly. This was an additional reason for us to move the conference site to the new location in Puerto Rico.

In summary, we are excited about hosting MIXING XXVI at the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, and organizing what we expect to be a successful, content-rich, and productive mixing conference at the new attractive site that we have selected for you. Puerto Rico is as enchanted as ever. The island is officially open for tourism and ready to welcome you.

Last but not least, do not forget to submit your abstracts and/or register for the conference. Registration is scheduled to open if possible by the end of this month.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Puerto Rico this June!
And if you are wondering, are we ready? Oh, we are ready!

Sincerely,
