Venue

The conference location for Mixing XXII in June 2010 is the Grand Pacific Hotel in Victoria, BC, Canada. The Grand Pacific Hotel is a five star hotel, centrally located in downtown Victoria on the inner harbour. Across the street is the Provincial Parliament, and you are a five-minute walk from the shopping district and a 10-minute walk from the Juan de Fuca Strait with fabulous views from the coast across to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. You can walk along the sea wall for, well how far do you want to go? The Provincial museum is a five minute stroll away and the Empress Hotel (famous for its afternoon teas) is close by. The main downtown area (shopping etc.) is maybe a ten minute stroll away. So there is a lot to do nearby and within easy walking distance.
And as you move further a field the list of sightseeing and recreational possibilities grows and grows and grows…. Best to check out the local tourism web sites for the possibilities that inspire your interests.

Victoria is the provincial capital of British Columbia. It is renowned for its mild climate (which is emphasized each February with Victoria’s annual flower count, occurring when Eastern Canada is still locked in winter) and its coastal environs. It is an excellent city to visit, intimate, yet having a full range of amenities and activities to keep you occupied, if desired.
